Course Description:

Brainspotting and Internal Family Systems with Lisa Larson examines how to thoughtfully weave Internal Family Systems (IFS) into Brainspotting without losing alignment with Brainspotting’s foundational approach. While many clinicians are already adept at identifying and working with wounded parts, this course broadens the lens to include Brainspotting the Self and addressing Protector Parts that can disrupt clients’ lives and slow therapeutic momentum.

Participants will develop skills to stay grounded in the Brainspotting Uncertainty Principle and remain in the “Tail of the Comet,” while integrating focused IFS-based strategies. A key component of the training is helping clinicians clearly recognize the difference between true Self energy and responses driven by protector parts.

Working with Protector Parts involves supporting a safe, regulated, and compassionate connection between the Self and these parts. This process will be explored through clinical instruction and demonstrated live. The course also highlights the importance of subcortical and somatic regulation, emphasizing Brainspotting’s strength in stabilizing the nervous system. As regulation deepens, clients gain greater access to Self energy, allowing for more adaptive, grounded, and sustainable healing.
